Susan Davis These cabinets are red birch with a clear coat of finish. We chose red birch because it looks like 'young' cherry - cherry before it darkens when exposed to UV light. It stays this lighter color, which was desirable in this kitchen. This client wanted - celebrated- the variations in color and woodgrain, as this was a WabiSabi influenced design. (Interesting side note - the home was sold a year or so after the kitchen was remodeled, and it was the kitchen that sold the home!)
