This was the first time I had done a stem shower where the ceilings are over nine feet. And curb less shower doors! I always try new ideas out on my own homes to see if they will work! And they did.

Are these marble panels on the shower walls. Can this look be duplicated with silestone or ceasarstone? - I want groutless shower walls »
Jamie Herzlinger Thanks for asking. Yes, these are all slabs. I suppose you could. Your tile installer would know. I have only used solid surfacing in kitchens
Jamie Herzlinger please go to jamieshop.com and register. then go to request a quote and reference the casa blanca family room rug and the fabric on the sheer drapery thanks for asking, jamie
Jamie Herzlinger Hello, the ceiling is held off the back wall to put the led lighting in which is fine for a steam shower which this is. As for the lighting, I combined the led lighting on a separate switch for a sensual atmosphere and the recessed can lights are halogen mr16 and they are the 50 watts on dimmers. The igniting system in the house is all Lutron. Hope this helps, best of luck, Jamie
fernpou Thank you for the prompt response! Looks great! So ceiling is level at 0 degrees? No pitch so condensation accumulation drips off the back wall where the led opening is after the steam has been on for a while?
Thanks again Jaime!
INVIEW Interior Design There is quite the controversy about this topic. Some people say it's fine and some would abstain from using it since it is so porous and needs maintenance, especially if it is not filled. The grout like to work itself out over time, so if you are going to do this use filled travertine. Proper ventilation is a must!
Jamie Herzlinger The above comment is correct. filled only, but the fill will eventually start to pop out depending on how much steam. You are much better off using a solid material such as a marble or a granite
Shower Design - I would LOVE to recreate this steam shower in my small master bathroom. Can you tell me the dimensions? Where can I find the glass surround? What is the name of the marble used? Thanks in advance! »
Jamie Herzlinger so sorry for the very late reply! the steam unit is a Mr. Steam and the marble is statuary, the glass would be through a local glass command and the dimensions of this shower are 5'x6'
Walker Zanger It really depends on where the material is made and finished. Some are filled with an epoxy, others with a polymer resin. It is best to ask the sales person where the material is purchased.
John Whipple - By Any Design ltd. You can do a curbless shower with steam of course. We use Noble Seal TS here in vancouver for just this type of installation. Considerations for the grading are key and ideally the area outside the shower will be graded back to the shower. Placements of bath mats and towels on the floor may be problematic with no curb.
Often the use of a low curb can allow for such towels and bath mats. Like shown above many of this showers have a deflector on the bottom of the door.
In Canada the TTMAC requires the use of a modified thin-set so insure your water and vapour proofing accept this.
what kind of lights are used in this environment? - Both the recessed and light strip are great. Where Can i find them suitable for a steam room due to the pressure the steam generator creates within the enclosure »
Around the corner in the master bathroom, the Bianco Carrera marble continues on into the shower, with an all-marble bench against one wall. Herzlinger decided to use pau ferro for the cabinetry in the bathroom — an exotic wood that's found in Brazil and Bolivia. Most often used in guitar making, pau ferro has a unique grain and coloration that can also be used in furniture.
1. Right sizing. I hate showers that are too small and are claustrophobic. It's like those showers at summer camp when we were kids. Fine for when I was 10 but not now. So to get the optimum size I'll ask clients to stand with their arms outstretched and then turn in a circle. This circle will be the absolute minimum size shower the client will want. If you have the space, a good rule of thumb to follow is that the shower should be a minimum of 60" by 36". Of course the shower can get bigger as we add things like a bench or other feature.
Bathroom Resolution No. 4: I will bench myself next seasonOne of the things you lose when you replace a tub with a stand-alone shower is a place to sit. A shower bench replaces the tub ledge for seated washing or leg shaving. Be sure to design one into your shower plans, even if it's just a small corner bench.
Go for an elegant look. “The inspiration for this bathroom was elegant glamour," says Jamie Herzlinger of Jamie Herzlinger Design. "The easiest way to get elegance into your bathroom is by using a frameless shower, because it keeps the look clean and sleek.”
