Love the birch branches...Where can I find them? - I've been looking for that type of wood branches, in that height.
Would love to know where to purchase! Thanks! »
Gather some handsome twigs and branches and displaying them by leaning on a wall. In the home office, these will provide a constant source of inspiration every time you look up from your work.
This room makes me want to sit down and look at a good coffee table book. Branches on either side of the desk add personality to a space that may have otherwise felt stiff and unfinished. I like branches for their naturally organic shapes and also because they're easy to find.
When the current owners moved in, the backyard was pretty overgrown. They used some of the trees that had to be pruned to bring a little of the outdoors into this office, another area of the "outhouse." The desk — which looks in keeping with the character of the wood throughout the main house — is from Restoration Hardware.

Bring in nature. "The desk is from Restoration Hardware, and the branches are from a tree that had to be cut down in the backyard to accomodate a deck," says Tineke Triggs of Artistic Designs for Living. "We never like to cut trees down, so we thought keeping a portion of it in the office was a good reminder of the circle of life, nature and things worth living."
i like how the appearance of the desk looks very old and a bit medieval style that also shows simplicity to a more modern kind of desk. Love how it's not to over decorated and that it's simple with all the right details.

Pickle the wood on this (or pale colored staining) and put legs on the bottom...sans the bottom drawer, perhaps for a less massive look...great art storage
