Sheila Schmitz The tree trunk was framed in wood, and the branches are a steel frame. Both were finished with epoxy resin and synthetic materials. You can read more about it and other tree-inspired spaces here:

Warren Lloyd Our treehouse is interior but actually houses an elevator. The trunk surface is an epoxy polymer that is formed to create the bark. There may be some interior applications that would allow for papier mache, but for durable surfaces that get kid duty, I would recommend the epoxy polymer surfaces. A good contractor can get you in touch with the right craftsmen in your area. Best of luck! Warren Lloyd
