Ghostpipe Fish is from my Camouflage Fish Series. As an artist. one of my interests is the consideration of figure-ground relationships. This is particularly a concern when using plants and animals as subject matter. Inhabitants of the natural work must live and adapt within their surroundings. This figure-ground relationship is vital, so to speak. With this in mind, I began the series Camouflage Fish. Camouflage is a way of fitting into the environment, for protection or stealth. The colors or patterns of the animal that create camouflage are also the features of the subject's habitat, creating a figure-ground relationship of significance and visual confusion at the same time.
Ghostpipe Fish has been exhibited at Annmarie Sculpture Garden & Art Center, Dowell, MD, Yonkers Riverfront Library, & Blue Door Gallery, Yonkers, NY , and Unison Gallery at Water Street Market.
