Are these fir floors and how were they finished? - I recently purchased a 1920s home and they have beautiful original floors that, unfortunately, clash terribly with the thinner darker oak that was placed in a 1980s remodel. How were these floors refinished and sealed - they are much less red than my floors! »
Thanks for you interest, yes these are the original doug fir subfloor, they were sanded and clear coated. I can only imagine that it is the nature of the wood that yours is darker.
Patrick Perez Architect Sorry to jump on you, no it is not private but it would be nice to assume that the people asking the questions are asking the questions to the architect whose work they are asking about. By you answering first this may confuse the person asking the question. It would have been nice if you posted your post after i had a chance to answer and say that you offer something similar, etc.
If you can get rid of the door entirely, even better. This eliminates a common obstacle of getting to the kitchen: having to push open or operate any kind of door hardware while balancing armloads of groceries.
like everything here - the marble countertops, the ceramic tile backspalsh, the wood floors, the white cabinets + the open cabinets. even the pendant light.
