shower floor - Hi - love this bathroom. I am going to use honed calacutta hex tiles on my shower floor. I am finding conflicting information as to when or if at all the honed marble tiles on the shower floor should be sealed. Some say before grouting, some say after grouting and others say not at all as the tiles can turn gray because water is not allowed to escape from the marble when wet. I would appreciate any information you might have to share. Almost at the point of install. »
jacob0621 Hi Emily. Do not know if I am commenting too late but had the tiles set, waited several days before sealing so all would be dry, had the tile grouted, waited again for a couple of days and then sealed twice before using. Have been using the shower for about two weeks and so far so good! No discoloration.
Reaume Construction & Design Approxamently 7'6" wide by 10'. This was a new home I designed and built for my brother and his wife in Dana Point, a second home by the water as a reprieve from Pasadena.
I only had 2' at the shower seat, 5' for the vanity, and 3' for the door to the bath. I created the bowed shower to get ample standing room in the shower. This was also the pool bath, so I thought their might be multiple kids in the shower at once. Due to the fun creative feel I was trying to create, I put shower arms above each seat and a center rain head, and one hand spray all on sparate valves. I recessed a track into the caesar stone header for the shower curtain. This bath was on a slab foundation so water on the bath floor wasn't a concern. Both sides of the shower have frameless glass walls above the seats.
Let me know if you are interested in anything else in bath or that home. We used flex mold crown on the ceiling and did the entire jamb in blizzard caesar stone as well as the counter. The floor is Thassoss hexagons. The shower was westminster tile subway white (no longer around). Bummer, so affordable. The entire bath had breadboard wainscot. The style of the home was Cape Cod. Built in 2008 at Pines Park over looking the Pacific Ocean.
Reaume Construction & Design My drapery installer provided this track. I had to give him a template for the shape of the curve. It can be fabricated by any steel company (wrought iron or structural steel) or even a sheet metal/gutter company.
Reaume Construction & Design I designed the vanity. It was 5'4" and built by my cabinet company in La Verne, CA. www.expressioninwood.com
24" center with 20" sides.
I will look for a better picture of the vanity.
This is a great use of space. Many of the little things needed in a shower can fit in a small niche. The low glass shelf doubles the footprint and creates extra room for lotions and potions.Tip: Make sure the glass is tempered so it's safe in case of an accident.

love the idea of a simple, classic shower curtain and the soft curve at entrance...visual interest, practical function....sliver of elegance but very classic...don't see how it will work with my layout but thought I'd share;)
