Can you tell me the manufacturer of the chandelier? - I am looking for pendant lighting for my kitchen island in my house that was built in 1840. I would like it to look as "old" as possible, and the style of this chandelier would be very fitting. I am having a very difficult time finding anything like this in a pendant. Thank you for any help you could provide. »
meghobbes Thank you so much for your reply. I have chosen pendants for over the island but am now looking to replace the dining room chandelier and will investigate Period Designs. Thanks!!!
Cabinet Heght - Would you mind sharing the total overall height of your beautiful blue hutch?? I have a kitchen with exposed beams and only 84" total height to work with... Thanks much! »
Create a collected look. The look here is fresh yet worn. Use different colors and vary the level of distressing on cabinetry to create a gathered-over-time feeling. If you can, keep windows bare so views of the land are unobstructed. Farmhouse life is centered around the kitchen table, so don't let that be an afterthought.
Look to antique precedents for inspiration. A combination of distressed cabinets, curly maple counters, a worn farmhouse table, a metal candle chandelier and a soapstone sink make me think Ma Ingalls is going to come around the corner with her famous sourdough bread.
The distressed look of most of the wood in this room is great. The table is exactly what I'm thinking of when I want to build a big table out of salvaged barge board.

This is an example of the rustic look I don't tend to like. This room just looks beat up. I don't want a beat up space. I'm not trying to achieve a faux sense of antiquity. Perhaps instead of rustic, I prefer upscale rustic?
Just love the cabinets and this whole idea.
Just marking it thinking something small could be incorporated into the kitchen...or the island could look like this but I bet it would be a custom thing and thus, too expensive.
