I love all the crystal-clear surfaces in this room; the table and chairs play off the open view to the sky, and the mirror makes it all look even larger. It's kind of the emperor's new furniture; the room has a lot of fun with illusions.

I love the idea of a glass (or plexiglass) table. For one thing, it's super practical - so easy to clean! Plus, it's a blank slate for table settings. This table would look terrific with so many different types of dishes and accessories. I like it with these Phillipe Starck chairs, but I think it would also look cool with something more substantial - it would be interesting to pair it with chairs that have a bit of texture or a crazy color.

This is the photo I originally used to depict this trend. I really like the way the modern plastic mixes with the rococo elements of the mirror and chandelier. It's not exactly Star Wars, but it definitely has a modern/trad vibe.

8. Odyssey. This trend is all about decorating for the future - decorating for a galaxy far, far away. I've always liked how this room (especially those Louis Ghost chairs) melds futuristic, translucent materials with traditional, even rococo, shapes.
