Peacock color scheme. Lots of white keeps it from being too color saturated.

This is a perfect blue. If you are trying to find it, you probably can't figure it out from a tiny paint swatch. Buy a small can and paint a big swath on the wall to be sure you love the shade.

I love how the art in this room pops right off the bright blue wall - the use of color is absolutely amazing. Theoretically, the colors of the sofa, pillows and ottoman could be too much with the wall, but thanks to a simple white table and lamp, and a cool collection of art, everything works together.

Solids work well together, especially when white is present. Here, the only print is found in the sofa and that is why this is working. Bright blue is perfect here and makes everything else pop with power.

Raoul Dufy. The Fauves, or "beasts," were a group of early 20th century French artists with a passion for bright, wild color. Dufy, one of the more famous of the group, used broad brushstrokes and crazy colors to create paintings with tons of energy. The colors in this room, and the use of multiple images on the wall, create a similar sense of excitement.

I love these flowers in a jug - so friendly and fun.

It's never too early to start an art collection - and there's no rule that says all the art has to be expensive. A gallery-style grouping is a great way to mix street-artist paintings with leftover college dorm prints.
