Distance? - what is the distance b/w the countertop and the bottom of the hood--I like how you can still see the guests while you are cooking....is an island hood absolutely necessary or can you get away with no hood at all? thank you! »
Range Hood - Can you please tell me what brand and how many CFM the range hood is? We have purchased the same range with charbroiler and understand we need at least 4 blower CFM. Thank you »
Angela Otten; WmOhs Showrooms Inc Good question. The liner and blower installed in this custom wood hood is by Dacor. The blower is a 1600 cfm external blower (roof) plus we added an additional inline blower as a booster~ only because the path to get to the exterior was farther than normal. It has a remote switch to turn it on without straining to reach the actual liner.
**ISALND HOOD: I designed this hood to be 40" off the countertop so most people can see underneath it easily ... I provided a remote switch since the hood is higher than usual; you can turn it off an on by a switch in an alternate location.
You DO need a hood with a gas range of this type. Because of the BTU output, and the higher height of the hood (capture space); I recommend a minimum of 1200 CFMs on the blower. This particular unit had an external blower PLUS an inline blower because of the length of the ducting.
if we put the cooktop in the island, what is code about how close the hood must be to the cooktop. i don't like this hood, but i do like how far away it is from the cooktop, the farther the better so that it doesn't impede my view.
Ample counter space including bar seating to make cooking more interactive. Also the faucet to fill up pots right there makes this space good for prep.
