Angela Otten; WmOhs Showrooms Inc When I install a heavy hood; I ask the builder to reinforce the stud wall behind the hood area with extra studs. I've also used a chain system that goes from the front of the mantle through the inside of the hood and lag bolts to the beefed up studs for extra support. The worst thing that could ever happen is for a hood to fall off the wall and crush someone!!!! :)

Brian Benda Got a call back today from Wendy Scheck at Liquid Metal Coatings. They charge $100/sqft. to create their coatings. I am guessing that metal hood is about 5 feet across to accommodate the 48" rangetop shown, and probably about 3 to 3.5 feet tall. So, that metal coating would run approximately $1,500 to $1,750. Still beautiful, just not very affordable! :)

Don't like the dark cabinets, but really like the hood. A splash of metal with the traditional looks good. And I like the way this kitchen is in the middle of the house, like mine is going to be.

So, I went to their website and found a listing of metals that they use. The two that stand out as the possible coating used in this pictures is either nickel-silver or pewter.
