This house renovation is nestled among live oak trees in the rolling hills of Westlake. Code and permitting regulations required the original slab and certain walls to be reused. The new house is articulated by cantilevered volumes, ribbon windows, two roof decks, a green roof and an infinity edge pool. The division between inside and out is purposefully blurred to take advantage of the spectacular natural setting.
A raised patio can be seen in another house, but the effect is much different. This stems from putting the seating area under an overhang and the way the plan wraps around a large tree.

now this is what i like and go after...its not just the declining steps its also the dark wood, the windows, the sitting space...i think a pond should be somewhere in here or my favorite some bamboo...
The architects played with levels and selected warm From interior : materials that worked beautifully with the natural backdrop just beyond the windows.
