paddykk Thanks for that prompt reply. What product line in Hunter douglas is it. I was on their website and could find it. Can't tell in this picture if they are roller shades with a cassette at the top? Could you tell me the product line in Hunter Douglas. Thanks again so much for your time.
hunjanvilla what is the name of this plant in the corner ,close to TV and how to take care of the edge of the dry leaf ,when i trim the edges it truns again yellow and start dry..
tnmommy3 That is very rude! You're giving all Arabs a bad name. Michael, it is simply beautiful!! I just purchased a house with the same floor color and I'm definitely painting my walls rever pewter! Very classy! Keep up the good work.
mrsben Silly questions perhaps Michael, but do you have any idea where the T.V. Components are stored? ie: Players, recorders, converter, etc. Also, is it a gas fireplace? (Would love a set-up like this for our Family Room).
Michael Abrams Limited The floor plant is from Plant Parenting, a Chicago home and business plant rental company. They come in weekly to maintain the homeowner's greenery and change things out as needed or requested.
Is the sectional designed with 2 Chaise? - Does the table (near the window) come over the chaise? won't that hinder usage of chaise space?
I love the idea of 2 chaise and sofa around it.. can i get a pic from another angle.. just of full set? »
Michael Abrams Limited sorry, these are the only photographs I have. The table does side over the chaise portion to provide a place for drink, book, or reading glasses. It is very light and can easy moved to provide room for reclining.
Dimensions of room - Can you tell me the dimensions of the room with the sectional? I am finishing my basement, have similiar floor plan with fireplace and will have flat screen above. Trying to decide on furniture. Wet bar is to the right in my room with a large space in front of it and stairs to the right of that. Thanks! »
patjlynn A client sent me a link to your photos and loved the floors and kitchen cabinets. The floors look to be a select grade that were finished in the field, where did you find them if you don't mind me asking. I am local in Chicago as well. I have been pouring over samples and selections and haven't been as pleased as the grade I am seeing in the photo. Also, who did the cabinet and what is the color. It all looks amazing. Thanks.
Hi i love this room. Can you tell me what color grey is that on the fireplace? and the color next to the grey up agaist the wall too...they really look good together...good job! »
Is the fireplace bio-ethanol? I'm looking to put my TV over the fireplace, but due to heat output, it ends up being very high - the bio-ethanol fireplaces seem to allow you to mount the TV much lower. »
Because bio-ethanol fireplaces are unvented and generally have a smaller firebox chassis it is possible to place a TV more closely to the fireplace, but it is not recommended.
Unvented fireplaces (gas or bio-ethanol) produce mostly convective heat (hot air), so the heat rises right up across the face of the wall directly above the fireplace. Artwork or technology can be subjected to very high temperatures - 200 degrees F or more - in that area directly above the fireplace.
Generally speaking, it it best not to put anything combustible or sensitive to temperature up there. A non-combustible mantel shelf above the fireplace can help direct some heat away, but you lose some of the clean look of the arrangement above.
Ga fireplaces have very specific, defined clearances to combustibles, but none will tell you a "safe" distance at which to place your electronics. Bio-ethanol fireplaces are largely unregulated by building codes and are generally even less specific about proper clearances than gas fireplaces are.
It is possible to come up with an non-traditional arrangement where the TV is relatively low, but ideal TV placement is seated eye level, and that isn't likely to happen with a fireplace underneath it.
kprose Tom, thanks very much for the response - you've captured my dilemma in a nutshell. Unfortunately, there's no other wall to put the fireplace, so both the TV and fireplace need to occupy the same wall. The picture you posted is very similar to what we're planning on doing - the long horizontal 'bottom' of the shelving unit forms the mantel (and heat break). By mounting the fireplace as low as possible, and using a long lean fireplace, we've managed the keep the TV at a reasonable height, but I'm always looking at ways to go lower. Really appreciate your input!

Treat multiple windows as one by pairing drapes on only the outer edges. If you need privacy or to block the light but do not want spend the money on the amount of fabric it would take to fully open and close, create stationary drapes just one to two widths each. Layer a shade behind the drapes. If the windows are high, consider a motorized shade, which usually come with a remote control or wall switch. Some remotes can operate up to five separate windows.
For the kitchen, let's plan for some open cabinets for accent pieces since this is a less formal kitchen where you can play with the open and enclosed space more casually.
