vermeer_day If I tried to recreate this myself, and believe me I think about it ALOT, :) here you are:
1. Plywood, wrapped in cotton or poly batting with some super strong spray glue.
2. Fabric wrapped around and staple- gunned after being pulled tight from corner to corner and then work from the center of the edges moving towards the corners ( this I know from many years of stretching canvases)
3. installed to the wall with either very strong velcro or the plywood will need holes drilled so you can hang them from screws set into the wall. But the latter will be pretty hard to line up, I'd go with velcro!
