We have gotten many questions about the stairs: They were custom designed and built in place by the builder - and are not available commercially. The entry doors were also custom made. The floors are constructed of a baked white oak surface-treated with an ebony analine dye.

what color are the walls? I have black granite floors, could that work to get the same look or are black granite floors too modern? »
jenwaldman We are redoing our stairs to look like this. Can you please tell me what black stain was used? I want a deep, glossy black, just like this. I appreciate your help. Your home is beyond stunning.
Beautiful stairs! Should I worry about it getting dirty, not seeing the grain of wood, and high gloss? - I do love the black and white staircase. Is having dark black practical since it dirtys easily or better to stick to a lighter ebony shade where you can see the grain? Also, any worries of falls if it is too glossy or better to stick to semi-gloss? »
What are the "rules" about having stairs in front of a window? - We are in the process of having a home custom built and have run into an issue with the placement of the front windows and how the stair winders block some of the window. The stairs are right against the wall and flow upstairs in somewhat of an L shape. Is it ok to block some of the window with stairs? »
What type of pleating and what material/color are the drapes? I can't see the top of the window, are they pinch pleated? with grommets or a bar? thanks so much! They are beautiful with the chandelier and dark floors!!! »
Almost the entire back side of the home is covered in windows, the largest in the foyer. Most of the rooms in the house are oriented so that at least one side faces the ocean.
