Keep your cutting board clean by washing it with hot soapy water after each use and dry it with a clean paper towel or let it air dry. If you want to sanitize the board more thoroughly, a diluted mixture of chlorine bleach or vinegar solution consisting of one teaspoon of liquid chlorine bleach in one quart of water or a one to five dilution of vinegar. Do not soak or submerge the board in water, for this will disrupt the moisture content and cause the rails to split. Wood cutting boards are NOT dishwasher safe. It is also extremely important to give your cutting board a good oiling on all surfaces every 3-4 weeks.
Mascheroni Construction Might work, but there are some questions that you should ask. What is the weight of all that you plan to put in the unit? Also, what are the specifications for the freezer? Does it produce heat and need ventilation? Also, it will need to remained plugged in all the time, so when you wheel it out, will you care about seeing the dangling cord?
kfpaige I know that we would need wheels that will carry the weight when there is food in it. Will these kind work for a heavy load? The freezer is not huge...it is an average size deep freezer (right now it is located in one of our closets with other items)..and I don't mind seeing the cord when it is pulled out. Because we have a small kitchen, I'm just looking for extra prep space that we currently do not have....and I think this would work great if it can be done.
Name of the hardware at Schaub and Co? - Can't find a match on Schaub and Co. Didn't know if it was discontinued so name of the line would be great! Many thanks for your time! »
Mascheroni Construction The interior design team took care of the cabinet pulls: Patrice Bevans (415-935-9110). Here is their website for contact info http://www.pcbinteriors.com. They should be able to help you.
Mascheroni Construction Yes, there is. The cabinet maker would know where it was purchased. It was custom made by our cabinet fabricator. JR Woodworks (707) 588-8255
Is it possible to have this island with drawers in it instead of shelves. - I'm having one made. I want to put all my cake pans, pie tins, bread pans, rising buckets and other light weight items in there. My unit will be quite deep and I don't want to get down on the floor and rummage.
Thanks! »
3. Consider your options. Try a roll-around cabinet that tucks underneath your countertop. It can be moved to where it's needed, then hidden away when not in use. Drawers and shelves provide storage for baking pans and utensils.
It sounds so simple, but so few of us think of it: make one base cabinet a rolling element, with a built-in chopping-block top for at-your-service accessibility. This is a great idea for small kitchens and large alike. If you don't like the look of casters, have your cabinetmaker conceal the wheels with a plinth for a completely inconspicuous solution.
I've thought of this rolling cabinetry differently. Have it on the end of the counter, then swing it around in like a divinder, making an 'L' shape counter for company use.
