Debris - What about the roof catching leaf debris and etc? That would be unsightly... Is it a problem w this design? Is the roof tilted sightly for water drainage? I really like how light this idea would be. »
aluap33 I lived with a similar product and yes it can get dirty with dust, stcks an leaves. Plan on having to clean it every once in a while with a hose.
Greif Architects / LIVING ARCHITECTURE Hi Westmerch, This roof faces north so it is never in the sun. It was designed to let as much light as possible into this back yard area. If it had faced into the sun we would have probably used a more tinted panel. Being as open as it is, it would probably not get too hot, and would be a pleasant place to be under in Sunny weather.
A statue can welcome visitors and give a hint as to what awaits inside. Also, I had to include these adorable people posing in front. I think the statue and the architecture are working for them!
This last photo acknowledges that translucent surfaces need not be limited to vertical planes. This roof for a small room and meditation spot is capped by translucent panels above wood members. It softens the light from above, while also allowing the adjacent tree to be sensed.

Fifteen pieces probably of eight by four. Each sheet creates two of the rectangles you see. you should be able to find this at a building supply store, ask for double wall polycarbonate panels. It comes in a few colors and thicknesses; if the store does not carry it in stock they should be able to order it for you.
