This landing bookcase is a strong design element. Look closely and you'll notice the shelves continue from the ground floor to the top wall of the landing. A clear floor in front lets you look down and appreciate this fact from above, while open risers let you look at it as you ascend.
Here is a library that doubles as a stairway. The tall bookshelves run across multiple floors off the stair landing. The glass floor gives this wall of books some cohesion.
The glass in the center expresses the stairs and maximises the light. We envisage the rear wall (in the photo, with the bookcase) will be tiled with the green stacked stone we had priced at Daltile in SLC. We would suggest fixing the handrail to the side plasterboard walls.
We have to think about what to do on our landings - bookshleves or shaker benches. Maybe we go for transparency in basement garden staircase with boxed in columns rather than a solid wall
Use glass for staircase BUT with added etching's .. Railings? Slate/Platinum or depending on glass/lighting .. COBALT BLUE .. Lighting inside rail? I think I've got it!
Don't forget about incorporating holograms in future .. budget!! Cannot break the piggy bank! WELL? But a little crack might not hurt. STOP!! Maybe .. Just wait till Wal-Mart has it in stock -- better chance of buying a coffin .. on sale!

Love the vertical rise of bookcases through two floors, glass creates openness and visual interest

glorious glass panels from one floor to the next, added protection from being jumped over; minimalist and contemporary fastening of glass to the stair treads.
