This 1940-50s geometric abstract is by San Francisco/Bay Area artist, Gustav Friedmann (1906-1985). Friedmann was educated at the highly-influential Bauhaus; a German school of architecture and applied arts founded in 1919 by Walter Gropius. Students and staff included Kandinsky, Klee, Feininger, Moholy-Nagy, and Mies van der Rohe. By 1946 Gustav Friedmann had moved to San Francisco and was a professor of art at the controversial California Labor School. Framed in a contemporary wood frame with a matte white finish, spacers and conservation glass.
