Mark English Architects, AIA I think you are asking whether there is space inside the wall cavity, and if there is, can you put aircon ducts. The answer is generally yes, as long as the proper spacing between flue from the fireplace, and the aircon ducts is maintained. You'd want to check with local codes.
Another unusual shape of a fireplace imbedded in a fantastic stone wall--nothing short of amazing. An example of the impressive blend between quaint and modern.
Ledgestone... this is very similar to what we want except thicker/taller pieces intermixed in and some stones canter-levering out 2ish inches in long horizontal runs and short horizontal runs - randomly placed.
i like this fireplace....wide and modern. the stonework is beautiful too. we would do large rectangular windows to flank the fireplace (replacing existing windows) and they would be single paned, like in this photo. perhaps the stone work would go 1/3 the way up the wall?? with a large mirror above??
interesting idea of putting the trim around the room. This is one way we could break up the huge wall and get better lighting--maybe do this in the living/dining room if we do a usable walkway in the kitchen/den. In one room the line would be decorative (like this) and in the other it would be functional.
