This classic family home on Olympia’s Boston Harbor is rooted in the architectural traditions of the shingle style. It speaks of longevity, commitment, generosity and family gatherings over time. Built on a dramatic site with views across Puget Sound to the Olympic Mountains, the house sits at the edge of a grove of mature cedars, which ground the structure visually with their great height and presence at the entry side.

Blue Desert Interiors These steps (treads) appear to be oak with medium/dark stain on them. The vertical part is the riser and appears to be painted. Typically the small overhang of the tread plus the moulding directly underneath it is the same stain. This appears to be that way too. If you look at the side of the tread on the balcony or higher, you can just barely see the small details, but it's there, little ins and outs from the moulding. Sullivan Conrad Architets really did a great job with the design of this staircase. The eyebrow arch of the balcony counterpoints very nicely with the straighter lines.
Best, Mark

A black handrail accentuates the elegant curves of this stairwell. Black and white conveys elegance. Consider the difference between a dark suit and a tuxedo — there's just something about a tuxedo ...
