Thank you for considering this one of a kind piece from Natural Edge Furniture. It is handmade in our small shop in Bend Oregon by very patient craftsmen and women. We salvaged the tree, milled the lumber and dried it ourselves. Drying takes years to do it properly, so that is what we do.
After all this work, we start building each piece individually. Working with one tree at a time we plane, grind, carve and sand. Lots of sanding. Each piece uses boards from only one tree so we can maintain a perfect match of color and grain characteristics. We sand, sand and sand a little more before finishing with a polyurethane hardwood floor finish that is extremely durable and is vastly superior to lacquer or varnish.
We make each steel base by hand, from USA steel that is 80% recycled material. Each base is custom made individually for an exact fit to the wood top. All our welds are ground and sanded for a clean finish. We use different finishes for the bases, all designed to be long lasting and beautiful.
