ginny4464 Rope is from home depot. It was a new staircase so i got the spindles in advance, painted them and then wrapped them. it was not hard - just tedious. I started hot gluing each wrap then slowly increased the number of rows before gluing again. it was just taking too long and i had a deadline! They have been up for 9 months and i have had to do a little maintenance on the ends - just re glue a little fray. I love them as does everyone that sees them!!
Texture is a big part of Coco's interiors and (especially) her clothes - think of those nubby boucle jackets. This wrapped railing reminds me of just that - and ties in a nautical theme, which I love.
From a distance, this looks merely like an interesting color choice for the banister. Up close, you see that it is rope wrapped around poles, adding a creative natural twist to a hardened material.
4. To emphasize a design theme. The rope-wrapped balusters, oversize jar and organic rug elegantly portray the global contemporary design of this home. We already get the feeling that the homeowners have been around the world and want their home to reflect their travels. In this case, the kaftan-clad homeowner is really the icing on the cake.
