bepsf It appears to be a Chilewich woven vinyl rug over a white floor of some type - Probably vinyl or linoleum.

I think a custom linoleum job with the gray and white would also look good, as well as durable. It's interesting sometimes what you think you see, then it gives you an idea of your own.

Bud Dietrich, AIA I'm only guessing but I'd say 7.5' to 8' (figure 3' at the washer / dryer, 3.5' walkway and 1' cabinet counter).

marianfaux It looks like it might be plantation shutters, which are shutters with wider slats. But it also looks like it could be those shades that are made of softer, opaque material. See, e.g., the Shade Store.

Becky Harris I'm with Marian. Plantation blinds or Plantation Shutters - kinda pricey, but worth it (I have them in my house - totally worth it!).

Add a desk or reading area. If you have room to add a little nook for yourself into the laundry room then it can be a great little getaway from the rest of the house.
