Gaku Floor Lamp

$1,125.00
Part of the MaMo Nouchies collection, a collaboration between Ingo Maurer and textile designer Dagmar Mombach marrying the beauty and flexibility of paper with the latest lighting technologies. The Ingo Maurer Gaku Floor Lamp features Mombach's specially processed paper sculpted into a fluid, dynamic shade. It moves and and flows around the central mounting rod, and is given a glowing sense of animation with Maurer's artistic placement of inner light.

For more than 40 years Ingo Maurer has created somewhat irreverent and thought-provoking designs in a method that is more exo-modern than contemporary. These experimentalist collections enliven fashion runways, monuments and private homes, giving Ingo Maurer lighting a name that resounds in the minds of the design-forward.

The Ingo Maurer Gaku Floor Lamp is available with the following:

Details:
  • Natural paper shade
  • Stainless steel base
  • Metal mounting rod
  • Electronic transformer
  • Continuously variable dimmer
  • Not suitable for damp locations
  • Not UL/ETL Listed
  • Made in Germany
  • Designed by Dagmar Mombach and Ingo Maurer, 1998
Please Note:
  • The paper used in this lamp is a natural, untreated product, with minor surface flaws a natural result of the manufacturing process. The paper shade is hand-made, by a patented process (requiring up to eight different treatments) based on a traditional Japanese method of textile dyeing. The results look superficially similar but, in fact, each shade is unique.
  • To protect paper, avoid exposure to dampness or direct sunlight. Do not overstretch the paper or fold it against the crease.
  • In some cases, the shade takes some time to assume its proper shape, as the paper has to hang and relax for a while. Touching the surface may cause shallow dents, but these can be removed by gently pushing them out from the opposite side.
Care Instructions:
Never use damp cloths, sponges or similar. If necessary, clean the shade with a light feather duster or paintbrush. The metal parts can be wiped with a dry cloth.

Lighting:
One 50 Watt 120 Volt Type GY6.35 Halogen lamp (included).
