A traditional house that meanders around courtyards built as though it where built in stages over time. Well proportioned and timeless. Presenting its modest humble face this large home is filled with surprises as it demands that you take your time to experiance it.

Questions about cost of beams - I am currently builing my house. Have same open concept with almost identical room dimentions. What is aproximate cost for wood beams. »
Norris Architecture I don't know that specific line item in the budget, but the cost will vary widely depending on local craftsmen, wood, and finish. Your contractor shold be able to give you a cost. Solid beams are easier to control the quality but usually are about 50% more than box beams. When doing box beams make sure you have a good craftsman that can hide the corner joints well, and ask them to provide a mock up section to verify you like the wood, color, finish, and joint quality.
Dimensions - We r getting ready to build and this is the layout of the kitchen/ living area we r looking for! Could u tell me the size of both together??!! I »
Norris Architecture That is a reclained brick from Chicago. The supplier is no longer in business. The best thing you can do is look for a local reclaimed brick supplier and go see what they have on their yard. Make sure they have enough for your job.
Hood - Where did you get that glorious cooper hood? Even if custom, (I'm sure it must be), I'd love to know what company/artist did it if you can share that info. THanks. »
Woodland Custom Beam Company These are some beautiful beams, I am a fan of good craftsmanship. We do a lot of custom box beams on our projects, done right they are a terrific product. http://woodlandbeam.com

Norris Architecture It's a very generous 12x4. Works great for serving at parties and as the workhorse center of activity for the whole house. A well designed island is critical for making a house work
Are there any more photos available of this kitchen...a different angle, perhaps? I'm trying to see what is behind the brick column. I'm curious to see the back wall to get a better feel for how the cabinets and appliances are set up.
Thank you! »
i think this kitchen is just on the other side of the living room. it's about the size we're looking at. could we get ceilings this high and still give the kids 3 bedrooms & a loft upstairs?
like the brick inside (maybe stone instead) - like the hanging lights, do not like the island - would want this to open into living room (also in this idea book)
Box beams corner joints hidden well, ask for mock up section make sure we like wood color joint quality, room size 22x 42, copper hood artist named below, island 12x4,
