2011 EcoHome Design Award Winner

Key to the successful design were the homeowner priorities of family health, energy performance, and optimizing the walk-to-town construction site. To maintain health and air quality, the home features a fresh air ventilation system with energy recovery, a whole house HEPA filtration system, radiant & radiator heating distribution, and low/no VOC materials. The home’s energy performance focuses on passive heating/cooling techniques, natural daylighting, an improved building envelope, and efficient mechanical systems, collectively achieving overall energy performance of 50% better than code. To address the site opportunities, the home utilizes a footprint that maximizes southern exposure in the rear while still capturing the park view in the front.

Thank you for your question.

I repurposed an antique work table I found at a local antique shop that specializes in pieces from Europe. My goal was to add warmth and interest to an otherwise all white bath, and provide a rough juxtaposition to the smooth lab-style sinks and gooseneck faucets. I have to give credit to Patrick Hughes, who supervised the build on behalf of Aedi Construction. His team fitted this rustic, uneven piece beautifully into the space.

abaker1020 Hi Adam, thanks for the reply. Do you happen to have the picture of the washer/dryer folding area on Houzz? We are also looking at combining our main upstairs bath with our laundry area to get better use of space. Right now the laundry area is a stackable wash/dry in a closet with no room on either side, so I was hopong to change it to a bath/laundry combo to help manage the space better. I'd love to see the picture if you have it. Thanks again, it’s beautiful!

The bathroom also takes advantage of the natural light. Clear shower doors allow the rest of the room to receive light from the window in the shower stall, and a carefully composed floor plan maximizes the space. Lots of white makes the space feel roomy and open.
