2011 EcoHome Design Award Winner
Key to the successful design were the homeowner priorities of family health, energy performance, and optimizing the walk-to-town construction site. To maintain health and air quality, the home features a fresh air ventilation system with energy recovery, a whole house HEPA filtration system, radiant & radiator heating distribution, and low/no VOC materials. The home’s energy performance focuses on passive heating/cooling techniques, natural daylighting, an improved building envelope, and efficient mechanical systems, collectively achieving overall energy performance of 50% better than code. To address the site opportunities, the home utilizes a footprint that maximizes southern exposure in the rear while still capturing the park view in the front.

I did use flat on the walls - I always prefer a dead flat chalky finish for walls - and a semi-gloss on the trim. Some paint companies have semi-gloss finishes that are too shiny, and so I drop down to satin, but in Mythic, the sheen level is just right for trim.

I did use flat on the walls - I always prefer a dead flat chalky finish for walls - and a semi-gloss on the trim. Some paint companies have semi-gloss finishes that are too shiny, and so I drop down to satin, but in Mythic, the sheen level is just right for trim.

Like door on cabinet, molding above shelf & Window (Molding key if making look more built in, unless building on site.) I like the bench being just under the window bumped out a little from shelves. bench with Drawers is best.

Yes, you are correct. I wanted to create a creamy white envelope that would allow the view and furnishings to be the focal points. I matched Benjamin Moore's OC-85 in Mythic Non-toxic paint, available online and locally at retailers such as Eco Home Center of New England, in Acton, MA.
