2011 EcoHome Design Award Winner

Key to the successful design were the homeowner priorities of family health, energy performance, and optimizing the walk-to-town construction site. To maintain health and air quality, the home features a fresh air ventilation system with energy recovery, a whole house HEPA filtration system, radiant & radiator heating distribution, and low/no VOC materials. The home’s energy performance focuses on passive heating/cooling techniques, natural daylighting, an improved building envelope, and efficient mechanical systems, collectively achieving overall energy performance of 50% better than code. To address the site opportunities, the home utilizes a footprint that maximizes southern exposure in the rear while still capturing the park view in the front.

ZeroEnergy Design The bench seat in the entry was planned for during the design process of this home. Once a house has been built, if the space is not there because the original design opportunity has been missed, perhaps you can develop an alternative creative solution by working with a designer or architect for a renovation of the home.

celestef hi Lisa! I am in Cambridge, and wonder whether you may be able to help...I am trying to source a small, very simple Murano chandelier. do you have any recommendations? I see that you say this one came from an antique store and that you removed some arms... it looks lovely.

I found the chandelier at an antique store in New Orleans. It is Murano glass. You can find Murano chandeliers online, but they are typically newly made in Italy... some better quality than others. This chandelier had more scroll arms but I removed them for a more streamlined look. I have not seen this style at Circa myself, which carries primarily the Visual Comfort line.

I found the chandelier at an antique store in New Orleans. It is Murano glass. You can find Murano chandeliers online, but they are typically newly made in Italy... some better quality than others. The entryway gives visitors a hint of what's in store inside. While it incorporates farmhouse touches like this bench, it also has an open, light and elegant style throughout, hinted at via the Murano glass chandelier.
