The approach: collected appeal. The cottage look is about layering, grouping together collected items, antiques and less-than-perfect finds to create a sense of comfort. The primary color palette in this living area is anything but typical for this style, yet the artful clutter radiates warmth and welcome in exactly the way that classic cottage interiors do.
I think the colours are cottagy, the patterns on the chair, maybe not. I really like this sort of fireplace with the mantle extending past the surround with the shelving with glass and a marvelous pattern. The teapots and spindle table are good, too
I like the way the chairs are facing. Usually you can only see the backs of the chairs that face the fireplace, missing out on the decorative pillows and nice touches of the furniture. I am going to re-position my furniture to see how it works!
