I know that the fancy chandelier-rustic table thing has been done, and done again. It's not new. But this particular chandelier, with it's green crystals, takes things to a new level. If I saw it alone, I'd imagine that I wouldn't like it in a kitchen at all...but I do.

Good lighting in a kitchen is really key - when you're chopping, it helps to see where the carrot ends and your finger begins! Of course, great lighting doesn't only come in cans - I love this chandelier. Functional, plus it adds a little romance when prep time is over and dinner begins.

Honest use of materials: Natural materials are able to retain their own voices in today's kitchens, rather than being muted by unnatural treatments. Wood cabinetry may be painted, but the preference is now for a hand-applied finish that allows brush marks and the material's original grain to show through, for example.
