Are the cabinets painted and if so what color? - I am about to paint oak cabinets and I love the color of these. Can you please tell me what color they are? »

Invest in a hand sander, a cordless drill/screwdriver, a compound miter saw and a jigsaw. I don't know what we would do without these tools! Oh wait, yes I do. Nothing!
Use underneath upper kitchen cabinets. Corbels add unique and interesting detail beneath a row of cabinets, whether you're going for casual or ornate. Most corbels can be painted or stained to complement your cabinetry.
We used beadboard to cover up a dated formica backsplash in our 1920's bungalow kitchen...it looks terrific, and very period. Beadboard was a material traditionally used in the kitchen and in servant's quarters (back bedrooms). We love our beadboard backsplash upon which we used a high gloss Dutch Boy interior paint.
