Examples of Work

This teapot carries on the tool theme I'm having fun with. The handle was cast from a childs play-tool set with plaster. Liquid clay, slip, was then poured into the plaster mold and left to set up for about 12 hours. The hammer casting needs to still be wet enough to manipulate. The hammer was then bent and cut to fit the body of the teapot. With the hammer casting being hollow, this saves from having added weight to the piece. The spout had mutiple rib marks added to give the effect of a funnel. The teapot body has two destinct looks, one of antiqued bronze and the other of a hammered copper. The bottom half was sandblasted to help with its look. The hex head screws make it seem as if the bronze half was fastened to the copper bottom. This teapot measures 7.25" x 9.5" x 5". It is now owned by The Kamm Teapot Foundation. LG Barnes III
