Virgo House

Virgo House: bird's eye view of the terraces, showing the photovoltaic panels and solar sun shades, and a green roof. The house area under the metal roof contains the stair that connects all levels and also acts as a passive cooling chimney that cools all levels of the house.

The house has a composite structure due to its unique design. The exterior walls are poured-in-place concrete since most of the walls are against the earth. The landscaped terraces (which have livable space under them) are concrete slab/steel pan supported by steel beams--the same system used for floors in skyscrapers. The sloped roof is standard wood construction
