We are beginning a family room remodel by removing a bedroom wall to expand the family room. I would like to know what the ceiling height is in this room. Is it 7 feet? This info would help me visualize our space and how the ceiling would look if we drop it to cover ductwork. »
Bud Dietrich, AIA One note of caution: The larger a room is in area (plan) the lower a standard 8' ceiling will feel. If you can't raise the ceiling try to vary the heights to keep the room from being uncomfortable.
dar76 Thank you both. I've been trying to plot out the soffit-ing myself and had 2 AC guys here but both weren't terribly helpful with suggestions. I believe the joists run in the wrong direction to be able to run the ductwork there, so that leaves me with boxing it in creatively to avoid the ugly factor. :P
Good point made about the space size being enlarged and the ceiling feeling lower. 7 feet would likely feel like a hobbit room.
Mr. Neiman, I am interested in the floors used in several of your designs. Could you tell me what kind they are, the color and the brand? I really like the neutrality yet the balance they offer. Thank you. »
