Two simple renovations of this 1920’s bungalow transformed the function and flow of two of the most important spaces in a house; the bathroom and the kitchen. The owner wanted to update the spaces to reflect a modern lifestyle while respecting the house. By changing the flow and function of the kitchen it now works for entertaining and multiple chefs while the clean spare finishes keep it fresh and clearly modern. The bathroom was made even smaller than its original form in the renovation of the kitchen so every inch of space had to be used. By unifying the finish on the surfaces, using small modern fixtures, and with a simple glass partition the bathroom is minimalist, elegant, and timeless.
Anyone know where to get the light fixtures shown in the adjacent room. I'm remodeling a 1925 bungalow and am looking for these in nickel or stainless. Cheap of course. »
Chris Summers This is great. Thanks. Also found similar at rejuvination in different sizes and up to 100 watts. Lightingdirect.com, home depot, and lowes carry a 60 watt version for around 50 bucks.
A Waters You like the color you see in the photo, you my not like the color if you were in the actual space. The color that comes to mind the way it reads on my monitor is Sherwin Williams Jogging Path. You can purchase a small sample jar but be sure it is an egg shell or semi gloss a flat may read chalky.
5. Upscale casual is hot. The restaurant we went to the other night specifically called itself "upscale casual" - which sounds like an oxymoron, but it's actually a good description of what many Americans look for in their spaces - comfortable rooms that still look really nice.
A modern chandelier or light fixture that hands down close to the center of the table is a great ideas for any dining room. You want to see what you're eating and the light allows for that. During the day, the chandelier itself serves as a statement piece for your decor.
The eye tends to seek out similar colors around a room, so if you already have a green centerpiece or other green accessories on display, place a bowl of apples nearby. The additional dash of green will balance the color throughout the room.
