This remodel of an architect’s Seattle bungalow goes beyond simple renovation. It starts with the idea that, once completed, the house should look as if had been built that way originally. At the same time, it recognizes that the way a house was built in 1926 is not for the way we live today. Architectural pop-outs serve as window seats or garden windows. The living room and dinning room have been opened up to create a larger, more flexible space for living and entertaining. The ceiling in the central vestibule was lifted up through the roof and topped with a skylight that provides daylight to the middle of the house. The broken-down garage in the back was transformed into a light-filled office space that the owner-architect refers to as the “studiolo.” Bosworth raised the roof of the stuidiolo by three feet, making the volume more generous, ensuring that light from the north would not be blocked by the neighboring house and trees, and improving the relationship between the studiolo and the house and courtyard.

Are these bi fold french doors?Where do you find them? thx so much »
Poolside bungalows at the Marmont have two or three bedrooms. Lots of light and wicker furnishings give the space its life. Each bungalow also has a private entrance and patio with direct access to the pool.
I've always loved the idea of having a studio that could double as an indoor/outdoor dining room. Triple French doors connect this indoor space to the outdoors.
UnityThe interior wall of this beautiful garden room is hung, gallery-style, with vintage maps. Not one is alike (variety), but with similar off-white matte boards and dark frames, the overall composition has unity.Similarly, there is continuity between the blonde wood floor and chairs, as well as the armchair's white slipcover and the white parson's tables.
Multiply the charm with a row of French doors. If you have a long wall adjacent to your patio, consider putting in not one but two, three or more sets of French doors to open up the space. Here conventional French doors open a studio converted from a garage to a brick patio in Seattle.See more of this remodeled bungalow and backyard "studiolo"
i like how the doors open from the dining area and invite you out to a patio; want lots of doors/windows right off of main area just steps away; don't like how we only have 1 door outside and the other one is behind the couch
