"I love lighting," says Hollis. "I think of it as the jewelry of the home." In the dining room, Hollis used two bold light fixtures designed by Piet Boon. Hollis designed the dining table, bench and wing chairs herself. Dining room is part of the great room, so Hollis decided to use a mirror so that people sitting on the bench could still see the amazing fireplace.

Here's another dining area that feels very charmed and Alice in Wonderland-like due to the use of oversized armchairs as dining chairs, large drum light pendants and oversized mirror. The use of symmetry and the minimal black and white palette works well in this room, too. The size of the rooms' components do so much work, no need to muddle it with color.

Here a carefully placed mirror accentuates the symmetry of the furniture, also making the room appear more exciting than it is. Two questions: Do those chairs go with that table? And where is the photographer/camera in the mirror?

A pair of large lighting pendants gives this eating area a very dramatic feel. The fixtures are completely in scale with the huge mirror and wingback chairs. The designer's choice of black accentuates the drama while also adding a feeling of elegance.

Hello, drama! These large drum pendants over a dining table are the first element of the room that you see. Their black color echoes the black in the dining chairs. Super modern and sophisticated.
