What kind of finish is on the walls in the nook? - Love the color and retrieved the color name from the other questions--but desperately needs to know what finish I should use on that kind of detailing--have this kind of detailing all over my living room but previous owner used flat sky blue it looks horrid. »
Becky Harris Hmmm, according to a Houzz Tour done on this house, it says "Fabric on barstools: Back fabric is Eversfield from Stroheim. Seat fabric is Caswell by Kravet" I think the barstools are the same fabric - you can see one peeking out on the left side of this image.
A space towards the back of the kitchen made the perfect nook for casual dining. The table, found at an auction, is a replica of a dining table used by George Washington's cousin. 11-foot-high ceilings were revealed after old light fixtures were removed — the false ceiling was promptly taken down, and Simmons embraced the new, lofty space.
Think outside the kitchen. This custom-upholstered seatback has a shape we're more used to seeing on a headboard or a sofa, but here it certainly dresses up an otherwise ordinary bench in a dining nook.
Windsor chairs, a banquette and sconces adorned in crystals are nestled into a nook full of traditional trimwork. It's the upholstered camelback shape of the banquette that gives the space an unexpected twist.

What I like about this nook is that it has so much style! Just as much detailing as a dining room, but cozier. And that curved back to the bench is just spectacular, both in shape and in the fabric used.
