I found this building on craigslist.com, but used to live downstairs in a very cute, but very dark apartment. The people who lived upstairs were moving back to Paris, so just for fun, I had a look at the apartment. It was so full of light, with a little terrace, that I knew I had to live here.
Thonet's No. 14 chairs were created mid-century — the 19th century — but they are perfectly suited for use among the 20th century's "mid-century modern" furniture boom, as seen in SFGirlByBay's home.
Color doesn't always have to be permanent. Pink flowers soften this streamlined space and pick up the hues in the pillow — just enough color to wake up the white.
For furniture longevity and mobility, choosing a neutral fabric is key — that way you can add large pillows in multiple colors and patterns. It's especially fun to have a different pillow for every season.
I love the curved wall of windows. This is definitely city living. The cherry blossom tree in a pot is a nice way to bring the outside indoors, but my question remains if it is real? Does it thrive in this space to blossom the way that it is displayed in the photo? Love the shutters, and the two arm chairs shared with a small round table. This is a neat use of sunlight in a small space. I love the hardwood floors and the area rug.
