We are renovating a limestone in Brooklyn. Stripping the wood. - Hi,
You're place is our inspiration. We were wondering how you stripped the wood and did you use a soap finish? We have
cherry wood and oak that has been stained very dark and we would like to lighten it up.
Also, I love the artwork. Whose the artist?
Thank you so much,

Hi, Thanks for your comments and questions. I apologize for the delayed response. I missed this. The woodwork on the stair was for the most part in its current state. We just did a bit of cleaning and touch up of nicks and scratches. Personally, I love very dark stained oak since this specie's natural color has so much amber -- which does not cooperate well with most modern palettes. You could also ceruse the oak which would be very cool! The cherry could bleached. Feel free to email me at
