On the other hand, Alterstudio's Balcones Residence is a more layered and complex composition, responding to the fact it is a renovation and addition of a 1950s house. Of note here is the way the house is large yet integrated to its property and its numerous mature trees. Given the shade created by these trees, the architects created double-height spaces with plenty of glass and added skylights to bring light to the center of the house.
