Ceiling cables?? - I love the look, are the cables purely decorative or are they functional? Ie hang punching bag from, climbing rope, gymnastic rings etc »
Burns and Beyerl Architects The cables replaced "collar ties". they hold the roof from spreading apart. The cable is actually a 3/4" diameter rod with a clevis on the end and turnbuckle in the center.
a punching bag has dynamic loads that would not be appropriate to hang from the rod. a rigid mounting would be more appropriate. The rod is designed to work in tension from side to side and is not designed for a downward load of any kind. it would need to be a much heavier steel member and loose its gracefulness.
This one brings home gyms to the next level. It not only has enough space for all the machines you want, but also has style. I love the windows, brick walls and the shape of the ceiling in this space.
