This look-out basement provided lots of daylight and was a space that client's wanted finished while kids were still at home. We converted one window into a doorway to outside, created a Media Room and Billiards Room with connecting wetbar.

Water in basement? - Love this idea but how do you ensure that water does not pool up in the stairwell and get into the basement with heavy rains? Also, could the area be covered somehow in the fall and winter to keep leaves and snow out? »
K&D Landscape Management With the heavy clay soils in Illinois, plus the amount of precipitation we get here, you always need to consider drainage when you have that much hardscape covering the surface of the land. Other techniques include rain barrels or rainwater harvesting systems, permeable and pervious pavers as a means of reducing the amount of water that is funneled into storm water drains during a rain event. Leaf drop is something you have to deal with in the fall, but from that photo there doesn't seem to be a tree in the immediate area.
