EXHIBITION — Sept. 9-Oct. 31, 2011Tim BurtonLos Angeles County Museum of Art (LACMA)Los Angeles, CAIf you're in the L.A. area, be sure to check out the impressive Tim Burton exhibition featuring more than 700 drawings, storyboards, cinematic ephemera and more from the creative mind behind dark and quirky movies such as Beetlejuice and The Nightmare Before Christmas. This display, the third most-attended exhibition in the museum's history, features artwork and objects from Burton's own archive, as well as from studio archives and the private collections of his collaborators. Not to be missed are two large-scale outdoor artworks: a topiary inspired by Edward Scissorhands and Balloon Boy, and an enormous figure based on an amalgamation of characters that Burton introduced in his book The Melancholy Death of Oyster Boy and Other Stories. Check it out before it ends on Halloween!
