Classic Sullivans Island with a Scandinavian twist

This is the way the house looked BEFORE we started.... 1200 sq.ft with 4 kids, 3 dogs, 1 cat and 2 adults.... a little tight. sooooo after 3 years the thought to expanding (instead of the originally planned 5) was introduced. We tried to salvage the original structure (built 1923) but after speaking to several different contractors they ALL recommended that we don't since they can't guarantee something they haven't built. Not wanting this cute cottage (with a leaky roof) to go to waste we found an organization that was willing to dismantle it and move it to a community that will rebuild it for a needy family (+ a donation which was equal to the cost of demolition).

Hi, Well we didn't really "tear" down, we donated the structure away and moved in to our dream-house on May 29th. Competley new construction. It's everything we dreamed and then some. We did a lot of "home-work prior to architectural drawings and hiring a contractor. We really were extremely lucky/smart in hiring the most amazing contractor that is honest to a fault (if there is such a thing). I interviewed 5 different contractors and they were all amazing but Richard Johnson was just a guy that worked for me. I worked as the designer and "project manager" and made sure that ALL the items were scheduled to come in when the contractor needed it and we saved a lot of time and money this way. Please feel free to contact me if you have any specific questions.
