To give the cottage a roomier feel, we removed the existing low ceilings and... neat vaulted space with exposed joist... a lot of light coming in, high ceilings... I would have never guessed that an exposed wood ceiling would look so nice... paneled ceiling and white cross beams with with interior... The warm wood ceiling warms up the space... Textures. Wood ceiling, cotton fabrics, full rug... feel, well, exposed. Pine shiplap looks more insular than white walls stretching to infinity and beyond.... i love this ceiling and beams... Interesting to not the differences in colors in beams, ceiling and flooring.... exposed rafters and lightness of wood... love natural wood ceiling and rafters... Take out old low ceiling and replace with ship lap boards...
