evedababe Id like to know how to do the back drop for the picture frames as well, I would like to do this in my family room with art my children have made.....
The Shabby Nest The desk appears to be two table put together. Those are the sorts of tables that can be found easily at Home Depot or Lowes. They tops are plastic, and the metal legs fold under for easy storage.
jewelgirl yes. they do stand out in an unwanted way. Maybe make a fabric skirt to go around the table and hide the legs and make a great hidden storage area. just get some fabric you like, buy some stick -on velcro for around the edge of table and there you are! If you pick a fabric that doesnt run then you dont have to even hem or sew! Just cut and stick. Post after pics so we can see. Love the antique piece!
Another option is to create a sophisticated house but to have one room that's set aside primarily for fun. This work space is ecletic and interesting and would provide a great haven from an otherwise more chic home.
Vivian from Ish and Chi:
Reuse what you own. If you are renovating your home it can be tempting to want to start from scratch with new pieces of furniture or accessories (if the budget allows of course). Sometimes though, I think a piece of furniture that has travelled with you for years adds character to a home and can become one of your most treasured pieces.
Considering how much time we all spend working, shouldn't we put that extra effort into making our workspaces fun? This one's great, from the art to the chair to the lighting.
Cover the board in a wallpaper sample. One way to make your board more sophisticated is to cover the cork with a large wallpaper sample. Handmade paper or fancy wrapping papers can also help you accomplish this look (personally, I love the selection at PaperSource for this kind of thing).
An armoire, a vintage chest, two floating shelves and two plastic folding tables were magically transformed into an attractive office through the use of good design principles. The armoire and chest hide all the not-so-pretty necessities. The shelves handle display duty, with desktop items coordinated by color. Notice that even though the desks are not high-end items, they still fill the space, which suggests a custom-fitted look. The shelves also fill the available wall space.
Who knew ordinary plastic folding tables could look so chic? Pair them with a cool chair, add a flirty chandelier and some well-arranged art, and you've got an office that's easy on both the eyes and the bank account.
Other places to look for extra space include a finished basement, an attic, or even the garage. Warm up the space with soft lighting, an area rug and colorful art, and you will soon forget that your creative studio is attached to your home at all.More:How to Create a Nest at HomeTips for Finishing a Basement or Attic
If you have a space in your home that’s not being used, perhaps you could convert it into your child’s special study room. Having a personal escape may encourage them to spend time in it.
