Gothic Brass Box, c. 1880
Representations of a chateau with knights adorn this brass, Gothic Revival-style box. The 10 panels that decorate the sides of the box seem to tell a story, perhaps of the Crusades. Four additional story panels adorn the lid. The box is unlined except for the red satin padding in the bottom. Trefoil piercings embellish the sides of each foot, and fleurs-de-lis decorate the handle. The box has a lock but no key. 8.5W x 4.5D x 3.5T. From France.
